The Lords of Midnight and Doomdark’s Revenge are classic games originally written by Mike Singleton for the Sinclair ZX Spectrum and published by Beyond Software. The Java implementation of these games recreates faithfully the look and feel of the original 8-bit epic games, allowing you to visit once again the lands of Midnight and Icemark, and rally the Free and the Fey against the evil Witchking, Doomdark, and his daughter Shareth.

The Lords of Midnight and Doomdark’s Revenge are not standard adventure games, nor are they standard war games; they are what was termed at the time, perhaps somewhat grandiosely, “epic” games. In the games, you guide characters on vital quests but will also command armies that must endeavour to hold back Doomdark’s legions from the Free lands of Midnight, and seek out alliances to topple the might of his daughter Shareth’s Frozen Empire in the land of Icemark to the north.
